The Issue

Why Julie's Haven

Physical and Sexual abuse among teens is often underreported due to the abused blaming themselves or not knowing who or how to report the abuse. However, when they become adults, the issue is often revealed, amplifying the need for awareness, preventive strategies, and healing opportunities for girls. Julie’s Haven proposes to do this through our ‘Purpose, Passion and Power Program’ (3P’s) and our ‘Information, Counseling and Arts Program’ (ICA).

Julie’s Haven’s mission is to offer girls who have  experienced

CSA/TRAFFICKING (physically, sexually abused- sexually trafficked) an opportunity to heal by discovering their Purpose, Passion, and Power to begin or continue a positive healing journey.

Teens Say...

"People, even kids, have sex all the time; I’ll just move on, forget. This will not be a problem for me, just because I was abused."

" No one I know would sexually  abuse a minor."

"I know all my friends. It's not likely that any of them have experienced sexual abuse."

Child sexual abuse can have long-lasting effects and affect the child’s mental health. Victims are more likely than non-victims to experience the following mental health challenges.

4 times more likely to develop symptoms of drug abuse

4 times more likely to experience PTSD as adults

3 times more likely to experience a major depressive episode as adults
